- Verify the hoist's rated capacity at the boom length you're actually using, not the marketing spec.
- If you're buying a used motor—Demag or otherwise—check the flange, the fan, and the duty cycle. Nameplate lies unless you inspect it.
- Load with the bucket curled, tracks dry, and a spotter who isn't your buddy drinking a beer.
The edge cases—that's where reputations get built. Or broken.
As of January 2025, pricing on remanufactured Demag motors in the 5-15kW range runs roughly $280-$650 depending on condition, and that's before freight. Verify current pricing with your distributor, because supply has been tight since Q3 2024.
